Where is the best place for you to heal?

If your home doesn’t feel like a safe, comfortable, healing space, what can be done to make it feel that way?

Is there another place you could be?

After my first chemo, while Cousins Gin and Kathryn were still at my house, my son Nick called to say he could bring some furniture home from our office so that I could work from home. My cousins were waiting for a project. When I mentioned that Nick could bring home a small desk and a couple of other things, they launched into redecorating mode. They moved furniture and accessories. What they did was perfect. During my cancer treatment, I worked from home for months and had a comfortable chair for relaxing when I needed a break.

If music is important to you, consider making a playlist of soothing and uplifting songs to buoy you when you need it. Your healing playlist is another excellent project to delegate to the people waiting in the wings to help.

You may choose to step away from television and radio news, choosing selective viewing of comedy and feel-good shows and films. You decide what works for you.

Essential oils can transform an environment, and the healing properties are extraordinary. If you don’t know about essential oils, but you are interested, delegate someone to research this topic. You are welcome to Contact me, and I can give you some ideas of essential oils to use in your Healing Environment.

These certainly don’t need to be drastic changes. Just a little shift can make a difference. If there are things you wish were different, but the change would be too difficult or expensive or unrealistic in other ways, let it go. If things aren’t all that you hope, but the solution isn’t clear, focus on something else. Practicing gratitude for all that you have changes your perspective. Being filled with gratitude leaves no room for discontent. Focus on all the good in your life.

I blend compassion and humor into my mentoring sessions. I’ve found those are essential elements of every healing process.
